The challenge

LUMRO has offered management consulting for over ten years. Leads were tracked in email and notebooks, projects in Drive folders, and documents requested from clients arrived by email and got lost among other messages. Nobody could quickly say what stage each project was in.

The solution

We built an ERP and CRM on Symfony 7.4. In the CRM, leads move through a pipeline with global stages, with interests, contacts and companies. The project is the central entity of the ERP: each has its own stages, and contracts, invoices and deliverables are documents attached to the project. Documents can be 'empty', meaning requests to the client, who uploads them through a secure expiring link with no account. All important actions are recorded in an audit log.

What the application does

  • CRM: companies, contacts, leads with configurable pipeline and interests
  • ERP: projects with their own stages, free navigation between stages, archiving
  • Documents attached to projects, with types organised in a configurable tree
  • Document requests to clients through public expiring links, no account needed
  • Automatic audit log for create, update, delete, login and export
  • AdminLTE interface in Romanian, no inline JavaScript, everything through Stimulus

Decisions that mattered

The most important decision was to make the project the central entity, with no separate modules for contracts, invoices and expenses. Everything is a document attached to the project, with a type from an admin-configurable tree. This kept the application simple and allowed it to grow without rewrites.

The second decision: document requests. Instead of sending emails, the consultant creates an empty document on the project and sends the client a link. The client uploads the file without an account, the link expires, and the file lands exactly where it belongs.

Technical details

Symfony 7.4, PHP 8.4, MariaDB, Twig and Stimulus, AdminLTE 4. Soft deletes on projects and leads, Doctrine migrations for every schema change, functional tests on business scenarios, not only CRUD.
